Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk

The Person
Charlie Kirk was a prominent American conservative activist and media personality, best known as the co-founder and executive director of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). Born in 1993 and raised in the Chicago suburbs, Kirk displayed an early interest in politics, writing for conservative outlets while still in high school. He was recognized for his relentless energy, frequently touring college campuses to engage in debates and promote free-market values. Beyond his activism, he was an author and the host of The Charlie Kirk Show, a top-rated podcast and radio program. Those who followed his work often noted his focus on traditional American values, limited government, and the mobilization of younger generations within the Republican Party.

The Assassination and Aftermath
On September 10, 2025, Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at an outdoor TPUSA debate event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was 31 years old. Reports indicated he was struck in the neck by a single bullet fired by a sniper positioned on a nearby rooftop, approximately 142 yards away. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after. The assassination drew international condemnation of political violence and sparked a period of intense partisan mourning and dispute.
The aftermath of his death was marked by significant national tension. A memorial service held on September 21, 2025, at State Farm Stadium in Arizona drew nearly 100,000 attendees.

My Thoughts
I honestly don’t know much about Charlie Kirk. I had never heard of him prior to his murder and all I know is what I’ve heard from other people who either loved him or strongly disliked him. This honestly doesn’t interest me too much; rather, the thing that interests me is the legacy he’s leaving for his family and the people closest to him. I watched some videos that his widow, Erika Kirk had posted on Facebook of him interacting with his kids. I listened to his memorial service – the long version, not snippets. It was obvious to me that he was loved by those who were closest to him and that’s what matters – not the opinions of strangers.

A person’s career is not equivalent to the person. I just want to throw that out there. People should be allowed to dislike others and take action through legal means, etc. if a person is unhappy about what another person is doing, but NOBODY deserves to die. He was a real person, not a caricature. He had a real family and real friends that feel the ripple effects of his death every single day. Violence is NEVER the answer. My heart goes out to his family.

In February, 2026 I sent this portrait out to Turning Point USA with Erika’s name on it. I hope it made it to her.
