The Person
Rae Tourtillott was a teenager who lived on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin. She was a daughter, a sister, and a Menominee Princess who loved to dance and was very active in her community. At the time of her death, she had a 2 month old daughter, Alysse.
The Case
Rae went missing on October 15, 1986, after attending a birthday party on the Menominee Reservation. She was last seen being picked up by 2 individuals and was reportedly seen alive after she exited said vehicle near the Tomow Overlook off of Old South Branch Road. The following day she was reported missing. Six months later, in April 1987, her remains were tragically discovered in a wooded area on the reservation. A federal investigation into her death ensued, but the case went cold for years due to a lack of evidence and jurisdictional challenges. If you or anyone you know has information surrounding Rae Tourtillott’s death, reach out to the Menominee Tribal Police Department at (715) 994-1307.
