Mahmoud Al-Dada: Killed in Gaza

Mahmoud Al-Dada was a beloved and loyal 37 year old English teacher in Gaza, Palestine. He had a wife, two sons and one daughter, Munir, Rakan, and Aisha.

After being displaced from their home by the IDF, Mahmoud risked his life every day to bring food home for his family. On July 15, 2025, he went to get flour but did not come back at the expected time. His family was notified soon after that he had been hit by an Israeli drone and then shot at with an armed drone.

In Mohammed’s (his cousin’s) words, “He was my cousin, my friend, and my brother. He never left me alone, not even for a single day.”

Over the past several weeks I have gotten to know Mohammed Al-Dada, Mahmoud ‘s cousin, through both Facebook text messaging and video chats. Their family is still trapped in Gaza and enduring extremely difficult and dangerous times.

I pray that one day, Mohammed, your family and Mahmoud ‘s family will find safety and I can send the drawing to you or Mahmoud ‘s wife. Until then, I will hold onto it.
